How we make money
The short version: some links on this site earn us a commission. Here's exactly how that works.

Amazon Associates
Vanity Journal is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
As an Amazon Associate, Vanity Journal earns from qualifying purchases.
In practice that means if you click a "Check price on Amazon" button and buy something, Amazon pays us a small percentage. The price you pay is the same either way.
What that does and doesn't change
It keeps the site free to read and pays for the products we try. It doesn't decide what we recommend. We write about products we'd buy again, including cheap ones that earn us almost nothing, and we regularly tell people to skip things we could earn from.
Brands can't pay to be included, can't review posts before they go up, and can't buy a better verdict.
Free products
Sometimes a brand sends something for free. When a post includes a product we didn't pay for, we say so in that post, and it's judged the same way as everything else.
Prices
We don't show prices on product cards. Amazon prices change often and their rules don't allow us to display them outside their own tools, so we link you to the current price instead. When a headline says something like "under $25", that was true when we bought it.
